you can download this scenario and be teleported back to 1983! This really made me feel like I
had finally gotten "Back to Idora" - It is now my pleasure to invite you to download "A Tribute to Idora"

This is a re-creation of Terminal/Idora park in Youngstown Ohio.
opened: to the public as "Terminal Park" on Decoration Day,May30,1899
closed:Announced on August 28th,1984 that the park would close for good, auction followed October 20-21,1984
reason: fire prior to season start on April 26,1984 destroyed the south turn and second hill of Wildcat rollercoaster,& part of lower midway...Board did not have resources to try and rebuild, & decided to auction.
brief history:the park opened as "Terminal Park" in 1899 as a way for the Youngstown Park & Falls Street Railway company to attract people to the mostly undeveloped south side of Youngstown. The company constructed a park w/ casino, dance hall, swings, and other structures. and eventually went the direction of amusements..Nobvember 25, 1899 the name Idora Park was selected and recommended by Miss Jessie Coulter, who taught school locally...the name Idora is said to be Indian...as well as the original name of Lantermans Falls nearby in Mill Creek Park.The Mid-Atlantic League played baseball at the park..major league players included Honus Wagner..Lefty Grove..and even Cy Young made an appearance...numerous "Big"Bands graced the Ballroom...notablyThe Glenn Miller Orchestra..Louis Armstrong...Tommy Dorsey to name a few.A long list of local and regional companys as well as schools and orginizations held their picnics at Idora....and this was a beneficial means of extra money for the park.....However as Steel Mills in and around Youngstown began to close and the area was losing population...and Idora was feeling the pinch. Prior to the start of the '84 season a section of metal on the Lost River ride was scheduled to be repaired...and while most of the workers were on lunch...a fire was noticed at the ride....by the time firefighters were able to put it out the south turn of the famous Wildcat rollercoaster and second hill were burned along with most of the lower midway.
the board at the time did not have the resources to rebuild, and opened for the '84 season . minus the 2 attractions , but attendance dropped ..and at the end of the season the board decided that the park would close for good after no buyers were found...an auction of attractions and odds and ends followed October 20-21 1984.

I decided to name the park "Tribute to Idora 3D", as the release of this park marks the 24th anniversary of the "fire that destroyed the second hill & south turn of the famous"Wildcat"(PTC coaster #83) rollercoaster constructed by the Philadelphia Toboggan Co.
